Benvenuto!

Ciao everyone.  I have decided for my semester abroad in Rome I will abstain from Facebook and Twitter so that I may truly experience Rome without distractions from school or the United States.  I know some may want to know where I'm going, what I'm doing, and even if I hate it or not, so this blog will be my way of sharing some of my experiences with you.  You can expect one or two posts a week, probably with a photo or ten, and a quick recap of what I've been up to during my time in Rome.  I'll do my best to keep it current, but I just might be having to much fun.

Why am I creating this blog now if I don't leave for another 39 days (who's counting?)?

I am just that excited about it... and it's the end of Thanksgiving Break and I'm ready to go back to school.

So far what I know:
I leave the evening of January 4th and arrive "a Roma" on the morning of January 5th.

I have not officially received word on the family I will be living with, though I got a message from a student currently in Rome who told me the family he is staying with received a letter saying I will be joining them in the spring.  Unofficially I will be living with a grandmother named Maria, and it doesn't sound like she has anyone else living with her, but I'm sure she has plenty of family around.  The student told me everyone else in the program is jealous of his situation because Maria "spoils him rotten."  Sound like a terrible match for me...

I will be taking two Italian language courses, Italian Politics, Italian Influences on American and British Lit., and Liturgical Art and Architecture.

As of now I'm just waiting for my visa and the address of my homestay...

39 days.
